Make Viral Videos “Forwardworthy”

Viral videos can be entertaining, cost-effective public relations tactics, like this example: “Babies Eating Lemons for the First Time.” First, take two minutes to laugh at adorable baby wincing, and continue reading.

Following a couple work-break manageable minutes of watching tots react to their first sour fruit; the video flashes “Want to see more lemon-eating babies? Go to… grandparents.com/kids.” By encouraging viewers to take the next step after viewing/sharing where they can find more, the video brings added web-traffic value. Thinking of creating a viral video to help market your organization? Remember to:

  • Make it interesting (would you forward it to a friend?)
  • Make it brief (folks may not have time to view a 10-minute masterpiece, but a few laughs in one to three minutes is doable)
  • Be sure to name/describe/tag your video with key words to enhance search engine optimization

For computer-savvy Boomer grandparent audiences, the lemon-eating video and many others created by Grandparents.com are right on target.
